These
sculptures are actually tea-light holders.
The front of the bass and the top of
the piano open up to place the candles.
A beautiful glow emanates from the piece
when the candles are lit.
The artist is a Canadian sculptor named
Heather Goldminc. She
creates whimsical items that include
animals, churches, fairies and holiday
sculptures.
I
purchased the frog playing bass for
$32 at Carolyn's Christmas Creations
in Muleshoe. I found the piece elsewhere
on the net starting at $54!! Carolyn's
always offers a good value and an incredible
selection. I can't even begin to describe
her store. Okay... I can begin, but
I'll never get it all in. Christmas
decorations, furniture, Texas items,
flashy costume jewelry, fused glass,
pottery, crosses.... and on and on.
Even though the store has Christmas
in its name, it's open year-round with
a special open house every year on Thanksgiving.

This
picture really doesn't do this card justice.
The headpieces of the three cats have
been colored in with a gleaming gold and
glitter. The collars are in a bright red.
Not only are the cards cute, but they
are handmade!
Evelyn
Hill is the 83 year-old woman from
Las Cruces who makes this card and a wide
assortment of others. And sells them for
an incredible value at only $2!! Ms Hill
has lost the sight in one eye, yet still
manages to create cards that are sure
to warm the heart of others this holiday
and throughout the year.
By
the way, her daughter and son-in-law (John
and Lynda Small) create custom-made
jewelry at a very reasonable price. You
can either email or call them, or hope
to catch them at craft fairs around the
area.

What
is THIS, you may ask? It's a chili roaster!
Tommy
Cummings of T.C. Welding in Lovington
invented this unique steel rack that hold
stuffed jalapeno peppers on one side,
and reverses to hold shish-ke-babs on
the other side. And it works! We tried
it out at the Peanut Valley festival,
and were able to create cream-cheese stuffed
jalapenos wrapped in bacon. In 30 minutes!
Appetizers that are allowed on your Atkins
diet!
The
kit comes in either large ( 39 holes at
$40) or small (18 holes at $25), with
skewers included. For an additional $6
you can purchase a pepper corer. (I heartily
advise it!) The rack can be used in your
oven indoors, or on a b-b-q rack outdoors.
We're impressed!
