Last
year the listeners helped us put together a relief effort
for Hurricane Katrina that was requested by Law Enforcement
in Baker, Louisiana.(click here
for more about the trip, including pictures)
In
less than a week, with the help of volunteers and the generosity
of communities throughout the high plains, we had enough supplies
to fill THREE semi's. I broadcast live from the cab of one
of those trucks as 25 of us drove to Louisiana to deliver
those supplies. What a reminder that was for was for us who
went that life is short and that we have soooo many things
to be grateful for!
Many
of us walked in our houses when we returned and immediately
went about the process of getting rid of things. We have so
much. Do we really need it all? The sad part is that things
are still in disarray in the gulf region. Let us not forget
that there are still areas with no power, people who still
don't know what will happen to what is left of their homes.
The effects of Katrina are far from over.
Another
eye-opener for me was the reminder that life has its own rhythm.
No matter how we plan, how much control we want to exert,
the universe is going to do what it wants to ANYway. So instead
of trying to create the "perfect life," perhaps
the best thing to do is follow our passions, wherever they
may lead us. And don't wait until it's too late.

So I've
been having fun, following my passion(s). I've been doing
more voiceover... more motivational speaking... more helping
small businesses... Of course, I have thoroughly enjoyed my
latest foray into acting (BELIEVE IN ME, starring Jeffrey
Donovan, Samantha Mathis and Bruce Dern). And frankly, I wouldn't
mind a few more acting jobs. And of course, getting in the
studio and pumping out commercials and animation voices and
audio books is sheer heaven to me.
Sometimes
small things lead to great joys.
